Video Evidence of Filming

This is a 180 degree pan of where I shot my second lot of filming, this place was ideal in some ways but it also had its disadvantages for example, the wind was a big issue because I had only picked a cold, wet and windy day and it effected my sisters performance when dancing and also ruined some of the shots because of the lighting change when the clouds came over, so I had to cut it quite short.
One of the advantages of this place was that it was big and quiet so there was plenty of room to practise I think I will get more shots of her dancing on here since I had to cut it short but this time I will get more of her dancing rather than shooting her making mistakes.

This is a short video to get a feel of where I was filming. This room was so Ideal as it had a higher deck where you could walk around upstairs but it had its disadvantages, it was full of wires and lights which got in the way, it also didn't feel very safe and I was a little uneasy being up high. Another disadvantage was the mirrors that were in there, but it was good because there was black out curtains that went all the way around the room apart from where the chairs were.
The chairs were a real bother because I wanted some 360 degree turns of my sister, it worked but they kind of took the focus off my dancer maybe I could reshoot the shot outside like I said I was going to do.

Stills of Filming

This is another still that I got myself from the high beam in the dance hall, I tried to get the reflections of the dancers in the mirror to add effect and to show how difficult filming could be but it actually turn out quite good in the end. The high beam went all the way around the hall and was quite easy to move around, I will be filming again in here so next time I will try and add different lighting because the hall had loads of performance lightings which could help me with the ending of my video as a kind of spot light effect relating back to the video 'The Hall of Fame' by The Script i researched. I could also have an audience where the seats were in the hall because the seats were a distraction and we couldn't really get rid of them so I could end up filling them up with an audience.

These are some stills that my co director, Debra Hern got of me filming my sister, I really enjoyed filming in the dance hall because it was very spacious and it was fun getting all the filming that I wanted.

These are some other stills my co director, Debra had got of me positioning myself on the high deck of the dance studio this was a great position to get and was really helpful because the dance studio we were in had loads of mirrors so it was hard to try and not get me in the shot through the mirrors so being up high really helped my filming. It was also great having black out curtains all the way around the dance hall.

Although being up high was a good shot it was also really dusty and didn't feel stable at all so it was quite hard to move around

More Planning

On this post I will be talking about how Im going to plan out the day of filming, Ive been planning it for a while so it has to be perfect.

My sister has agreed to the day of filming to be this Wednesday as the weather could be promising and we've also agreed to continue the rest of filming on a day where she's at uni but this I will need confirmation from her dance teacher, this also could be useful as there are other people in her lesson which could be good as a part of my video for the scene where it looks like she gets bullied.
Since ill be filming outside the weather needs to be kind of bright, its really hard to film since the days are getting shorter and theres hardly's anytime to film with us both being busy so I have resulted in some of the filming to be shot at night because she cant just get he full inspiration in the day time.
 I will have her walking across a bridge of some sort or taking her dog for a walk to portray that she is alone and thinking.

Ancillary Task 1 CD Cover

This image here is going to be the front page of my CD cover, as you can see I have added the singer of the song I have chosen and I have also added the name of the song in big capital letters. The font I have used for this is Myriad Web Pro Font, I used this font because its simple and it stands out more I also like how the gradient matches the background of the photo.
I decided to use this picture of my sister because she's so inline with the horizon and in such a good position, I also chose it because it portrays the video I have done, in a sense of being alone but managing to overcome big obstacles in life and the writing on her hoodie gives away the story line a bit and thats what I like about it.

This screenshot is my sisters reply to my invitation on asking her to be in my music video, I was able to talk to her about this after and give her some advice and guidance on what she would be able to do and with what I am looking for.

Evidence

This post is going to be about me asking people that I know to be a part of my media music video. I started off asking my sister because she is going to play the main part of being the dancer, I asked her through Facebook because it involves modern technology and social media, I also used Facebook because its also easy to use and a great way of contacting people.

I secondly asked my mum if she would be in my music video but this time I asked her via video recording because I thought it would of been good to mix it up rather than just asking both through social media and also my mums not really great with technology so it was much easier to film me asking her.

Call Sheet

This is my call sheet for the first part of my music video, I haven't finished the Location details yet as I haven't yet had confirmation that I have permission to use the area to work in but as soon as I do I will be making another contact sheet.
I will also do another  contact sheet for the other part of my music video and also of the ending because there will be much more cast at the ending.

CD cover idea

This photo is a rough idea of what the CD cover would look like with much more added to it. I will also get a couple more photos of my sister posing in dance form for it and I will also make it look more professional with the text at the top.
When doing my video I will try and get some stills of her dancing for more options on what to use I will also; with me being a photography student I will arrange some studio time to get some professional dancing photos with good lighting and better quality cameras. This will help me a lot as it will give me a range of photos to chose from and edit to see which one goes better with my CD cover. I will need about a good 6 photos for my CD as it opens out revealing about 6 pages so I will like to use them as background over some writing of maybe lyrics and information.

Inspirational Text CD Cover

For another inspirational text I have decided to use Katy Perry, I have decided on her because unlike Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding she's a bit more girly and more experienced in the music business because she's been around a lot longer than the other two. I have also decided on doing Katy Perry because her target audience appear to be mostly girls with the way she presents her self and I would think this because she used a lot of pink in her photo such as here. But I also think that because she is an attractive woman she draws male attention and target audiences also, There for her target audiences would also be both but more so female audience. I know this because on the bottom of her album cover it has the words "One of the Boys" she is trying to shout out to every kind of girl, although she looks girly she is trying to say that every girl has a boy side to them.

Inspirational Texts CD cover

Another inspiration text I have decided on is Ellie Goulding's CD album Halcyon Days. I have decided to do Ellie Goulding because she's basically my idol and I love her music, she also ranges in the same target audience that my music video is based on although unlike Ed Sheeran Ellie's target audience are a bit of both genders because I know of some boys that do listen to her as well as women.
I also like the colouring on her CD cover, it has both colours that stereotype both girls and boys (blue and pink) I think its good that she has done this because it shows that her music is for anyone.
I also like how her hair stands out on this just like Ed Sheeran's album cover it is what they are known for. Ellie's hair is famous and always looks lovely. She is also known for the shaven part in her hair that it the part of her hair she is showing off i this photo.
Unlike Ed Sheeran's album cover his did not have any text on what so ever but Ellie's has her name big at the top but not too big, this is so her picture stands out more than the ext does, she also has the name of her album on the bottom in slightly smaller text than her name this is because the artists name is more important.

Inspirational Text CD covers

This post is about researching CD covers, to help me find the right colours and poses which appeal to my target audience. My target audience being 14- 20 year olds. The reason I have chosen Ed Sheeran is because his songs are lovely and I think we have the same target audiences, they both range in the same age group. I also think that Ed Sheeran appeals to more women as well because of course he is a man and most of his song are love songs and slow passed.
This CD cover is Ed Sheeran's newest album and as you can see it is of his face but what I like most about it is that is just very simple, he looks quite ominous because of it being different shades of orange and what I like most about this cover is that, Ed Sheeran has ginger hair and orange might be his favourite colour there for he has used it to maybe blend in with his hair or to make it stand out and noticeable just like his hair.
If I had to pick any dislikes about this CD cover I would have to point out there is no text, for someone of a younger age you wouldn't know what his album is called, there is just the logo of it in the bottom right hand corner which doesn't really tell us much. Over all it is a good CD cover but the lack of text is disappointing.

Logo

This image is my logo I made for my music company called Dream Music.
I created my logo on the program photoshop, I first started with the sphere that I made when I was originally going to make it into a globe but then I thought that with the research I found that there is to much earth logos and wanted to be different. I followed a tutorial on youtube to make the sphere I thought that this was a good idea because I'd actually researched into making it rather than going onto google and picking it off there. I then go a normal music note and created a flat circle with a 3D effect and imprinted the music note into the black circle and added a drop shadow from the effects bar that you get when you double click the layer. this gave my logo the professional look.
I got my text for my logo from FontSpace this is a really good website to get your desired fonts from and I chose this one called the 'MoonHouse' font, I really liked this font because it looks like something you'd look for in a logo.

Logo Research

I have done some research on various different music records to try and get some ideas on what my logo for my music video will look like and also what the name of it will be.

I have a design in mind for my logo but it’s the name that I have been struggling for and I have decided it has to have something music related or otherwise my target audience wont have a clue what the genre about it is.

I have looked at the major record labels such as Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group basically just because they are the most well known that I know of  I will brainstorm some ideas 

Time Management

Time Management

We are now 5 weeks into our A2 media course and already I feel like I have learned a lot. I am more familiar with Premiere Pro and I know how to put a good short clip together easily and I am fluent with the use of photoshop due to me being a photography student.
I am managing my time well and I am almost up to date with the things I still need to put on my blog, I do know what I need to do in order to step up from where I am I need to not to get distracted as much and get my head down on working things together to get them on my blog before deadlines.

I will start to give myself deadlines in order to catch up with work that I need to do and that needs to be finished. I will also work more independently outside of college more to get things finished to a better standard.

Music Quesionnaire

This is my Music questionnaire/survey I did to hand out to people to get an idea of what people are into these days. I will hand out about 20 surveys to different people around work area and college mostly because that age range of people in college are either the same age as me or a year younger. This whole idea is based to help me discover what people really look for in a music video and it will help me keep on track what my target audience will like and what will keep them interested in what they like.
after handing and collecting these in i will make a mood board of all of the different responses and it will help me keep track on what I will need to include.

Inspirational Stills

This screenshot from Hobbie Stuarts video of Big Yellow House is what I am aiming to do in a section of my video. I've decided on doing this because its a little tricky to do and it also looks great the way the two photos blend in with each other, I put this still on my presentation talking about my pitch and I really love it, I think I will definitely use this in my video.
I also love the vibrance of the colours he has used in his video this will be a bit tricky since I am debating whether or not to do mine in black and white.

Storyboards

This is page one of my storyboard for my music video. The parts you see are only rough but are more or less on the lines to what I really want.

Page one of my story boards is about her standing there so that audience cath the feel of the surrounding and setting of the place. This is to do with the location I am using which is a big open space on top of a hill but it has concrete so it's a perfect flat place to film and easy to practise, it also portrays how she feels at that current moment, empty and alone.

There will be a lot of cuts in this first part but only so the audience catch the feel of what is going on and so they know the genre of the music video. 

Inspirational Texts Website

This here is Katy Perry's website, as you can see its very well presented and very simple and that is what I'm looking for in my website, something thats bright and simple. I also really like how there is a picture of her behind the text of her album tour and how its hashtagged so that you can access it on any social networking site.
The only think I dislike about this website is that there is no text, so you don't really know where the home is or what its about or what she is about its honestly quite too bare.
This is something I would consider using in my music video because it is well lit and the exposure is just right, for example the lighting in the left is very high but you can still see her which I really like, also the photography is great where she is in the centre but the background is blurred I really like that effect.

This here is Ellie Goulding's website and again unlike Ed Sheeran's hers has much more colour and although it seems quite bare theres actually a lot going on but its still really easy to navigate and everything is beautifully placed. I really like it how her background is over her and the position of it is really interesting because its not exactly in the middle its off to the right hand side this is so you can still see it behind all of her other posts from Instagram.
What I dislike about this website is there is hardly any text only where the sub headings are, so you don't really know what the pictures on the home screen are for or anything, they are just randomly placed but apart from that Ellie's website has given me some ideas on how to present my website and how to organise it so its easy to follow and to make it look professional.

For my Inspirational texts about websites I have decided to use the same 3 people Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and Katy Perry. This here is Ed Sheeran's website and as you can see just like his Cd cover it is very plain and well organised, what I like about it is that it is really easy to navigate and the font style he has used on his website is very recognisable because he uses it a lot. I like how he has got a very simple background this makes you focus more on the little things as well as his videos. I also like how he has got all of the main social networking sites this shows that he is well known and easily found. and it also shows that he cares about the feedback he gets from his fans.

Ive took a screen shot of Green Days menu bar because I really how the style fits in with their albums and their style of genre, as their genre is quite creative it isn't really out of place.

Also like I said in a previous post about the choice of colour, I really like this idea of pink and blue being like a male and female audience so it suits basically everyone and anyone.
I really like how the menu bar has an international feature which shows they are quite big around the world and also adds to their target audience from a different place around the world.

Inspirational Text Website

This is a screen shot I took of two of the artists I looked at on their official websites. Again I like Green Day's website better because unlike Katy Perry's theirs appeals to both female and male audiences with the colours of pink and blue both a stereotypical boy and girl colour. where as Katy Perry's colour choice is more to suit her rather than her fans, this is the impression I get just from her website. Also Katy Perry's is rather bare and boring where as Green Day's is all in your face and theres much more to look at.
On the other hand Katy Perry's website has a picture of her so you know what she looks like but Green Day don't, which is a let down if Green Day were new to you although there are some little photos of him you wouldn't know first hand what they looked like if you were browsing their website.

Deconstructions

Here I am deconstructing some CD covers to help decide what I would like my cover to look like. I have looked at these two album covers because they are from 2 totally different types of music styles, for example Katy Perry's more of a pop diva and Green Day are more of a rock band. I did this because I really like both and I am still undecided where my song comes under. I am thinking of an indie style because thats what people are in to these days and thats mainly what my friends listen too.
I like how similar the layout is in both of these albums for example the band/artist's name is at the top in big writing this is what I am going for in my CD cover.
 I really like Green Days style of choice in photo, I like how its been drawn and has this sort of fire effect/colour in the background on the wall.
what else I like about Green Days CD cover is that its quite bare but theres loads to look at and it draws the audience closer in to want to buy and want to listen to their songs.

Video editing

This is the video me and my team of Lauren and Connor created including all of the camera shots and angles we would need to include in our music videos.
I found this exercise interesting as it was challenging and productive, it also helped me a lot because its learning about how to shoot the angles and is a good step up to filming. I will be looking forward to using these techniques in my music video because I really enjoyed filming these.

Facebook poll

This is my facebook page for my music poll, this is where I will be able to get feedback and people interested in my video. I can also invite people to make it viral so more and more people can see what I'm doing and I know what they like and dont like, this is good for me as I can gather research to what to put in my video.

Camera shots

This sheet is a story board of camera shots to help me remember the camera shots that I will need to include I have also had some other camera shots in mind that arent on this sheet for example, a tilt, a pan and a 360 pan especially this is a tricky thing I am thinking of doing but hopefully I will be able to accomplish this.

This video is Ed Sheerans Music video the A Team and this is my inspirational text for my music video, I have chosen this as my inspirational texts because of the way it is filmed, obviously this is his first video but its done so cleverly, he also has time lapse in it, this is where pictures are taken or clips of video and it is sped up so it looks really effective especially the way he has done it because hes done time lapse around the girl in his video this is something I could try.
I also like how his video is in black and white, this adds to the effect of her being lonely and scared and gives off the feeling that her life is dull like the colour grey. I think I will incorparate this effect in my music video because this is the type of feeling that I am trying to get across to my audience. I will also incorpirate the scene of where she is walking around a busy place and she stands out from the croud again I feel like this links in with her feeling lonely.

Inspirational Text music video

this is another inspirational text that I looked at recently and its basically what Im going for. This music video is about people struggling to get their dreams, they have to really fight for it and especially the dancing parts where everyone looks at her as if she will never be good enough because she's different. Feedback

This is my feedback I got from the class after presenting my pitch of what I am going to do and what I am going to include in my music video.

from this feedback the posted notes were very positive which shows to me the majority of people like to watch music videos and are very interested in my idea. I seemed to get quite good feedback from the effect that I talked about using and I think i got this good feed back because of the target audience my music video is based on, which is students.

I will keep referring to these posted notes because they will keep me on track of what people will want to see and include.

This is my media presentation pitch for what I have decided to do, so this is my final outcome that I have detailedly discussed.

Flatplan

This is my web page flat plan that I designed on Microsoft Powerpoint as a part of my pitch, I am going to try and create some moving banners to go with my webpage although I will find this tricky I will do my best to make it work.
I will add videos and parts of my music video on my webpage as some kind of spoilers to what my video includes and looks like. I have put the theme of red on my webpage because although its my favourite colour its quite bright and eye catching so I would like to include this colour as a theme to my whole product.

Flat Plan

this was my rough flat plan of what my poster would look like/ what it would contain, I had the idea of having my main image overlapping the name of my film slightly just like the batman poster as seen in my previous post. I liked the layout of the poster so I decided to base my poster on that poster mainly because it was quite plane and bold. It also looked tidy for example everyting was nicely layered out and understandable. The release date I was thinking about doing it small because after looking at previous posters they make the date a little smaller so people would actually take the time to look at the actual poster to draw them more.

Flatplan

This is a flat plan of the front cover of my CD/ digi pack. I am going to take some shots of my dancer dancing and edit them to good standard for my main image this will be layered on top with the text going behind the dancer but it will still be visible. I will also have the name of the single on the spine of my CD cover that is so the spine isn't bare with just colour.
The singer of my music video will be put at the bottom of the cover just below the dancer/main image

Possible Ideas

After discussing everyones initial ideas in my media group on what they decided to do my mind had been changed and I started to brain storm my ideas putting in things that I could use and discussing happy and sad approaches because most songs are about heartbreak and love.
I also discussed the idea of animation which really took my attention, and thought it was really good because I am a fine art and photography student so its quite handy for me because I have certain skills that could help me while doing this. I also discussed the type of media I could use, obviously I would have to do it digitally in the end but I could either hand draw it myself and take a series of photos leading up to the animation itself or do it all digitally which would be even trickier but could possibly be a better outcome. doing it digitally would obviously take up alot of time.
