Evaluation question 4

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

The different technologies that I have used throughout the course I har used photoshop for both years of this course. Last year in my AS media course I used it for basically all my product, this wasn't my first time using photoshop as I had a little experience in it from my photography gcse in Comprehensive school, so I didn't learn everything from scratch again, I was also taking As photography for my first year in college so again this gave me a head start in producing my piece. This year I have n even greater understanding in Photoshop as I have carried on taking it in my A2 year, the tools are basically the same and I have no trouble with Photoshop at all, the tools I used this year where mainly the crop tool and the colour balance, I only used photoshop for my website and CD digipack and nothkng else.

Blogger this year was mainly a new thing because last year I had chosen the choice of using Tumblr because I had already had an account that I didn't really use, tumblr was hard to navigate and hard to put your posts in order that's why I started using blogger. Blogger is really helpful and easy to navigate, it really helped me in my research and planning as it was simple to add photos and videos too unlike tumblr where you had to write everything in Microsoft word then save the file and upload it to your dashboard.

My mobile phone is a very useful bit of technology that I was able to use greatly this year, my phone is an Iphone 4 which is great for taking pictures and shooting videos with as it has a decent quality picture, all of my photos and most of my music video was done using my phone as it easier to handle and lighter unlike a heavy camera or recorder. Apple which is the company of my phone have apps which you can download some for free and some you have to pay, but it also has blogger as an app so this I was able to upload anyhing I wanted were I wanted and this was very useful.

Another very useful technology that was new to me in my A2 course was Apple Mac Computers, they are the same company as my phone so it's easy to combine the both. The Macs also have hundreds of more programmes then the normal computers which we used to have last year, they have the important programme that was needed to produce my music video, it is called premier pro, this was also very new to me and with the help of my media teacher handing us a booklet of how to navigate Premier pro this was helpful but I was mainly self taught and if I needed any guide nice of help on it I simply went on there version of the internet called Safari- this is an app that is automatically installed and is faster than google chrome and internet explorer, I googled it so again and other useful technology was the internet.

The useful sites that helped me with my evaluations and planning consisted of Facebook and YouTube because on both I was able to easily upload my video to YouTube to gain feedback and then I was also able to link my Facebook with YouTube to gain even more feedback from my friends and family.

Evaluation question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Throughout my A2 media course I aquired a lot of feedback of everything I did and feedback is important for a successful product. Some of the feedback considered to be very useful and I never faulted in looking back at it for reference to keep me on the right track as a lot of my final product being my video was constructed from audience feedback. I often got regular feedback from my target audience and also from my class mates my teacher also helped to push myself and make my product the best it could be. 

Everytime I was editing my music video I would always ask my nearest friends that worked close to me if there was anyhing I could do to suit them so they always gave my positive criticism, I would also ask my teacher everytime I tweaked it if it looked okay and I would save each edited video that I could understand what I changed and what needed to be improved. Social media also helped me with my feedback as I put most of my videos on YouTube to get a wider response, as well as social media I went around and handed out survey of what people wanted to see in my music video everything down to colour and setting. When I finished my product I put a the final finished product on YouTube and again I got really good feedback such as

"The genre of dance fits really well with the music and title!"

This photo here is of my first feedback I got of presenting my idea to the class and these are everyones feedbacks and what they thought of my whole idea of my music video. Everyone thought it was a really good idea and this then gave me the confidence to work hard on my music video and make it the best it could be. I also like the comments people where commenting on that I had detailed flat plans this was because I had really thought out my idea and had it all planned out.

If given the opportunity to do my music video again I would use a better camera this is so I could get a better quality image, this would make it look more professional, I would also take into consideration of my teachers comments for a "shakey hand" and use a tripod when needed this will also help me produce a better quality image, i also think that after rendering my file from Premier Pro I lost a lot of the quality which is a big downfall and a real shame.

Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

In terms of business and creativity I feel that my main product-being my video and my ancillary tasks being the website and CD digipack, combine really well together, I have taken into consideration of the meaning of impossible and what everyone's opinions of it is, and everyone's opinions of impossible is overrated.

Both pieces of my ancillary tasks compliment the song in a way because the album is of her at the end of the video with her arms wide open, she has achieved her goal and she's over looking the town of were she lives ontop of a big hill, this expressions shows that she is waiting for more challenges to be thrown at her, this is the same on the website, so this combines with the video really well.

The distribution of my product will be done in similar ways, as all three of them will be put up online such as YouRube there are also sneak peaks of the video on my website linked to YouTube there are links on my website linked to Facebook and Twitter so basically anyone can take a look, the CD will also be put on ITunes and Soundcloud for those with iPhones and androids these are all popular streaming sites, te CD will also be put up in shops, this is how effective my video will come across and also how effectively easy the audience can access it. Social media plays a big role in society there for it is based round online and suits my target audience.

As you can see here both my ancillary tasks link in with my video because they both show the same setting of where some of the music video is shot, I have used these photos because again it shows determination and also lonliness of this small girl in this big world, the pose of her arms open wide on my website below show that she is ready to take on the world.









The release of my song into the modern media environment would require all of the things that I have created for this project. A video would be most needed to advertise on music channels such as the popular MTV or VIVA and also YouTube again, a CD single would be required so that people can listen to it anywhere if they don't have the internet, this is ideal if older teens can drive, they can purchase the CD to play in their car. The website is the one that would promote it all because it can promote the CD release and indirectly it would promote the video.

Evaluation question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have chosen to create a music video with the additions of a website and CD digipack. I have chosen to do a website other than a poster for my video as this will show I have challenged my self by using new programmes and something I am not familiar with doing. And it will also make my music video more professional by adding a website.

Before I decided I wanted to do a music video my initial idea was set on doing a movie poster because it was easy and simple. I also wanted to do a movie poster because I really liked working with photoshop and my knowledge with photoshop is efficient. So then I brainstormed some ideas and came up with animation ideas then I came up with the idea of a moving picture of an animation but his was all about time and would I have enough time to do this, so then I finalised my idea and changed it completely. With me changing my idea completely

this helped me develop further and challenge myself to do better than my previous AS year.

Before I started constructing my product I considered what audience I wanted to hit, so initially I went for my age group of about 16 maybe a bit younger to about 20+ this was my initial target audience. I chose to attract my audience by using what everyone was listening to and mainly what everyone was basically in to, indie videos and pop music is what teenagers are wanting to see, this is where the idea of my actual music for my video came in handy, and hence the reason or my choice of James Arthur, he looks like an indie pop star because he has the look and that's what young male audiences look up too.

I created a video using James Arthurs- an xfactor winner from 2012, version of Impossible, this opened up a whole variety of ideas for me.

Myself being the constructor of this product wanted to make this video as emotional but inspirational as possible, just like Ed Sheeran's first video 'the A team' his open the eyes of young teens to show that drugs are bad and that's what I am aiming to do -attract the audience to do what they dream of doing. And that's another reason why I have chosen James Arthur because he followed his dreams of a singer and now he's a pop star winning the biggest music show on TV.

Structuralism

My media music video follows Todorov's theory of narrative organisation. This is where the main story line would usually have a beginning, middle and an ending. The beginning usually has a happy beginning, then something happening in the middle which changes the mood and story line such as a death then they overcome that in the ending for it to be happy again but a new kind of happy, this is called Equilibrium, disruption phase and second equilibrium.
My video follows on from this because my sister is confident and happy about dancing at the beginning then she comes up with a dance and hurts her leg, this being the middle in Todorov's narrative, but dancing is her passion and she really wants to carry on, so she over comes her bad leg and pushes herself to be the best and she does it.

This is my finished ancillary task of my music website, I am really proud of this because this is the first time I have used this type of website maker and I am really proud of how it has turned out.
I really like this site because it is easy to navigate and simple to use because everything is there for you when you need it and you can chose any style you want to suit you so this was a really big help because I think my website connects with my music video a lot, and you can tell this by the colours used.

This is the link to a preview of my website and also the progress I have done of it so far.
I will be adding more pictures into it for the 'Store' tab that I have as a option, the kind of pictures I will be adding to it are the things my sister mainly wears through out the video, this is so the audience gets a feel of what dancers might wear and so that they might want to purchase them themselves.
I will be putting on her 'Dance' hoodie, she also has hoodies off where she as been for example she danced at new york with her uni so she has a gorgeous purple hoodie which my audience will might like to purchase, the shoes that she wears are dancers aswell, she has her own ballet pumps that she wears whenever shes doing a performance so I will put up some pictures of them and to purchase them.
Another thing I will put on will be an interview with my sister and how she overcome her ingury and from when she was first asked to perform. I will also ask her questions like how long has she dances for etc.
